Dans l’histoire générale du droit du travail colonial français, le Cameroun, comme le Togo, occupe une place à part en raison de son statut particulier de territoire sous Mandat de la Société des Nations (SDN) puis sous Tutelle de l’Organisation des Nations unies (ONU). Ce Mandat est confié en 1922 par le Traité de Londres pour partie à la France et pour partie à la Grande-Bretagne, à la suite de leur victoire contre l’Allemagne qui occupait ces territoires jusqu’en 1916.
