Ocio digital en casa: Transformación del ocio

Abstract

La introduccion de las tecnologias de la informacion y la comunicacion en el hogar ha transformado las actividades realizadas durante el tiempo de ocio, cambios que tienen implicaciones para el funcionamiento de los hogares. No obstante poco conocemos acerca de esos cambios. Desde una perspectiva constructivista e interpretativa hemos analizado las narraciones de 30 individuos para estudiar la manera en la que las tecnologias digitales han transformado sus actividades de ocio durante el tiempo libre. Los resultados muestran un cambio cualitativamente diferente al producido por la proliferacion de receptores de radio, TV o reproductores, Ahora las tecnologias no solo han incrementado la exposicion a diferentes experiencias culturales, sino que tambien actualmente las personas tienen mayor control de esas experiencias: el proceso de consumo de las experiencias ya no es homogeneo, depende de los consumidores, y ademas en el hogar entran simbolicamente, temporalmente y virtualmente, invitados, sean familiares o amigos, conocidos o desconocidos. Estos cambios muestran que los individuos tienen una mayor libertad para realizar las actividades de ocio domestico y con ello los miembros de los hogares reportan que pueden mejorar su satisfaccion con las actividades de ocio domestico.
