Abstract

Le programme méthodologique élaboré par Quentin Skinner depuis le début des années 1970 pour lire l’histoire de la pensée politique se propose de remplacer un mode de lecture des textes du passé placé sous le regard des questions pérennes de la philosophie politique – avec son lot d’anachronismes et de « précurseurs » - par une approche contextuelle s’appuyant sur l’idée que le sens des concepts figurant dans les textes ne peut être élucidé et compris que par leur insertion dans le contexte d’interlocution et de discours propre à l’époque où ils ont été écrits.
