Abstract

La notion de « conflit gelé » demeure largement usitée dans l’analyse des territoires contestés de l’espace postsoviétique. Le cas de la République du Haut-Karabagh (RHK) souligne pourtant la pertinence d’une focalisation sur les processus sociologiques internes dans la compréhension des dynamiques internationales. Le processus d’étatisation et de nationalisation du territoire contesté consolide la défense territoriale endogène, débouche sur l’institutionnalisation de structures gouvernementales et réinvente des symboles nationaux. Malgré ses limites, la dynamique d’étatisation enclenche un processus social d’adaptation qui permet aux Arméniens du Haut-Karabagh de continuer à vivre et à évoluer sans reconnaissance internationale. Cette dynamique sociologique modifie parallèlement les relations d’interdépendance entre la RHK et l’Azerbaïdjan, faisant du retour au statu quo ante une perspective chaque fois plus inenvisageable.
