Indochine : du soldats-héros au soldat-humanisé

Abstract

Dans la mémoire collective, la guerre d’Indochine se résume bien souvent à la défaite de Diên Biên Phu, le 8 mai 1954, et à l’héroïsme des soldats qui y ont pris part. Cette représentation d’un soldat héroïsé a été véhiculée par les premiers témoins, à commencer par les grands chefs militaires. Une figure qui laisse peu de place à l’expression des souffrances : le vrai soldat est celui qui accepte son sort sans sourciller, faisant don de lui-même à une cause supérieure. Cette représentation va trouver son apogée dans l’œuvre cinématographique de Pierre Schoendoerffer. Toutefois, une nouvelle figure va se superposer à celle-ci au début des années 1990. Son origine pourrait être issue de la communauté des anciens prisonniers français de la guerre d’Indochine qui, par le biais de l’affaire Boudarel, ont alors accès à l’arène publique. À travers leurs témoignages se dessinent progressivement les contours d’un soldat-humanisé.
