Les period rooms seraient-elles de retour ?

Abstract

L’actualité de la recherche, comme celle des musées, semble témoigner d’un regain d’intérêt pour la question des period rooms . Nées de la rencontre au début du 20 e siècle entre les goûts des collectionneurs privés et les préoccupations nouvelles des conservateurs de musées elles prirent un essor considérables pendant l’entre-deux guerres, jusqu’à constituer l’un des lieux privilégiés d’exposition des arts du 18 e siècle. Leur conception recouvre un certain nombre d’enjeux théoriques et pratiques qui gagnent à être précisés à la lumière de quelques réalisations récentes, dans de grands musées européens et américains.
