Abstract

Publication de la traduction francaise de la conference inedite sur le nihilisme allemand que Leo Strauss a donnee le 26 fevrier 1941 a la New School for Social Research de New-York. Reflechissant sur l'enigme historique du nazisme et sur l'emergence du mal, l'A. met en lumiere le motif non-nihiliste du nihilisme qui consiste en une protestation morale contre la civilisation moderne, d'une part, et examine le contexte emotionnel de la jeunesse anticommuniste et athee de l'entre-deux-guerres qui a conduit au nihilisme, d'autre part, avant d'elaborer une definition du phenomene specifiquement allemand qui trouve son origine dans le militarisme de cette jeune nation dirige contre les principes imperialistes des Anglais
