Amartya Sen : un bilan critique

Abstract

Résumé Cet article se propose de faire un bilan critique de certaines des contributions les plus connues d’Amartya Sen à l’analyse et à la philosophie économiques. Une première partie revient sur les concepts de "capabilité" et de "fonctionnements", au centre du dispositif théorique de Sen. Puis, ce sont ses positions éthiques qui sont examinées à partir des critiques qu’il adresse aux doctrines utilitariste et rawlsienne. Il se dégage de cette étude que les positions de Sen ne sont pas aussi originales qu’on ne le pense généralement, tant sur le plan théorique que sur celui de leur portée pratique.
