Guzmania panamensis (Bromeliaceae), une nouvelle espèce jusqu'à présent endémique de la province de Veraguas, dans l'ouest du Panama, est décrite et illustrée. La nouvelle espèce est reconnue pour son pédoncule beaucoup plus long que les feuilles et ses bractées florales rouges, plus courtes que les fleurs jaunes. La nouvelle espèce est comparée à des espèces morphologiquement similaires, à savoir Guzmania monostachia, Guzmania berteroniana, Guzmania elvallensis et Guzmania skotakii.
Se describe e ilustra Guzmania panamensis (Bromeliaceae), una nueva especie hasta ahora endémica de la provincia de Veraguas, en el oeste de Panamá. La nueva especie es reconocida por su pedúnculo mucho más largo que las hojas y sus brácteas florales rojas, más cortas que las flores amarillas. La nueva especie se compara con especies morfológicamente similares, a saber, Guzmania monostachia, Guzmania berteroniana, Guzmania elvallensis y Guzmania skotakii.
Guzmania panamensis (Bromeliaceae), a new species so far endemic to Veraguas province, Western Panama, is described and illustrated. The new species is recognized due to its peduncle much longer than the leaves and its red floral bracts, shorter than the yellow flowers. The new species is compared to morphologically similar species, namely Guzmania monostachia, Guzmania berteroniana, Guzmania elvallensis, and Guzmania skotakii.
