Perda auditiva e qualidade de vida em idosos

Abstract

OBJETIVO: Verificar a associacao entre as variaveis perda auditiva e qualidade de vida em idosos. METODOS: Participaram deste estudo 30 idosos. Os criterios de inclusao foram: idade igual ou superior a 60 anos, assinatura do Termo de Consentimento Livre Esclarecido, ausencia de cera obstrutiva no meato acustico externo,capacidade de compreensao para a realizacao dos procedimentos selecionados. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio da aplicacao de dois questionarios, o SF-36 e o sociodemografico, e de avaliacao auditiva. RESULTADOS: Constatou-se que 56,7% dos individuos apresentavam perda auditiva de grau leve ou moderado, sendo que a media de idade dos investigados com perda auditiva leve (74,3±2,4 anos) ou moderada (72,6±3,8 anos) foi mais elevada do que a media de idade do grupo com limiares auditivos normais (69,0±2,3 anos). Os resultados evidenciaram associacao entre o grau de perda auditiva e os dominios capacidade funcional, vitalidade, aspectos fisicos, saude mental e estado geral da saude. Na amostra avaliada o sexo nao foi um fator que influenciou no grau de perda auditiva ou na qualidade de vida. Com relacao a idade e a qualidade de vida, evidenciou-se correlacao com os dominios da capacidade funcional e aspectos fisicos. CONCLUSOES: Concluiu-se que a maior parte dos idosos avaliados apresentava perda auditiva, havendo associacao entre a presenca desta alteracao e a avaliacao negativa da qualidade de vida.
