Gençlik Hedonizm ve Din (Z Kuşağı Örneği)

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between religion and hedonism among Generation Z youth. Religion has been a constantly debated phenomenon at both individual and societal levels throughout human history. It can influence individuals' actions, emotions, and perspectives on life. Hedonism, on the other hand, is a mindset that emerged alongside capitalism and consumer society, directing individuals towards pleasure. The hedonistic tendencies displayed by today's youth form the subject of this study. Within the scope of this study, while a scale was found to measure religious attitudes, a hedonism scale was developed. The fieldwork was conducted through online surveys due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The research consists of an introduction, two main sections, and a conclusion. The first section discusses the historical and theoretical development of hedonism, the sociological meanings of religious attitudes and religiosity, and definitions and typologies of youth. The second section analyzes the data obtained from the fieldwork from a sociological perspective. In the conclusion, the research data is evaluated, hypotheses are tested, and recommendations related to the topic are presented.
