Construction et reconstruction de l’identité « périphérique » : analyse des stratégies de la traduction en turc par Ebru Erbaş du français contemporain des cités dans le roman Grand frère de Mahir Güven

Abstract

This paper examines translation strategies through an analysis of a corpus of words and relevant examples in Mahir Guven’s novel Grand frère’s translation. It recalls the main characteristics of the Urban Youth Slang and emphasizes the significant role this variant of French plays in the novel. After defining the methodology for analyzing the translation strategies, we evaluate the results of the statistical analysis with concrete examples. The paper concludes with the overall effect of translation strategies on the process of recreating the peripheral identity of the narrators.
