Abstract

Growth rates of Cape hake (Merluccius capensis) and deep-water hake (Merluccius paradoxus) off Namibia are compared tri terms of length and weight growth of both sexes of each species. The von Bertalanffy growth equation parameters are given; principles of otolith age reading and interpretation are discussed and illustrated with photographs.
