Factores de riesgo de la enfermedad diarreica aguda en población pediátrica menor de cinco años.

Abstract

La enfermedad diarreica aguda es un problema de salud pública a nivel mundial. Objetivo: determinar los factores de riesgo de esa patología en niños menores de 5 años de la localidad de Huancapata, provincia de Ambo, departamento de Huánuco, Perú, durante 2019. Metodología: se hizo un estudio no experimental, analítico y de corte transversal en una población compuesta por 101 madres de pacientes menores de 5 años con diagnóstico de enfermedad diarreica aguda que manifestaron voluntariedad para su participación. Se empleó un cuestionario que incluyó las dimensiones cognoscitivas, culturales, sociales, hábitos de higiene, saneamiento básico y biológicas, validado a través de criterio de expertos y una prueba piloto para establecer el índice de confiabilidad, obteniendo un valor de 0,71. Resultados: el 88,1% de las madres participantes residían en el área rural y el 83,2% tenía una edad entre 20 y 39 años. La edad de la mayoría de los pacientes pediátricos (37,6%) era entre 13 y 24 meses. Las características clínicas de la EDA más frecuentes fueron: un episodio diarreico al mes (61,4%), tres deposiciones diarias (43,6%), excretas líquidas abundantes (37,6%) y existencia de deshidratación (24,8%). Conclusiones: se establecieron varios factores de riesgo de EDA en la población estudiada y esta patología se asoció estadísticamente con la insuficiencia de conocimientos, consumo de agua sin hervir e inadecuada disposición de desechos sólidos.
