
El poeta español Calderón de la Barca es uno de los autores que mejor ha representado el sentimiento de la vida humana durante el período barroco. En su obra El gran teatro del mundo, estrenada en 1645, Calderón colocó al hombre actuando en un gran escenario ante Dios Padre y toda su corte celestial; la obra que el hombre interpretaba era su propia vida, y el escenario para esta representación era el mundo. Esta metáfora del teatro del mundo trascenderá toda la época.
