Abstract

Tekst poświęcony jest projektowi kongijskiego artysty Sammy'ego Baloji'ego "Album" (2013). Baloji w swoim cyklu łączy historyczne fotografie belgijskiego podróżnika i myśliwego Henry'ego Pauwelsa eksplorującego Kongo w latach 1911-13 ze współczesnymi zdjęciami ukazującymi przemoc i konflikty w tym samym regionie, tylko dzisiaj. "Album" lokuje się więc z pewnością w kręgu „kolonialnej hauntologii” w rozumieniu T.J. Demosa. "Album" pozostaje narzędziem do zawieszania sensu, do ożywiania historii w sposób, który raczej mnoży pytania, niż daje konkretne odpowiedzi. Taki sposób rozumienia czasowości, rozumienia historii, powraca nieustannie również w innych projektach kongijskiego artysty.
