Abstract

Recenzja książki Marka Haltofa Polish Film and the Holocaust. Politics and Memory (2012), w której autor podejmuje kwestię reprezentacji Zagłady w polskim filmie. Haltof przeprowadza drobiazgowe analizy filmów, zarazem odnosząc je do politycznych, ideologicznych i kulturowych kontekstów czasu, w którym powstały. Przedmiotem rozważań autora stają się między innymi: Ostatni etap Wandy Jakubowskiej, Ulica graniczna Aleksandra Forda, Pokolenie Andrzeja Wajdy czy Pasażerka Andrzeja Munka. Haltof omawia również filmy powstałe po przełomie 1989 roku, po okresie ciszy (z lat 1965-1980), kiedy temat Holokaustu był przez filmowców niechętnie podejmowany: między innymi Korczaka Andrzeja Wajdy i Pianistę Romana Polańskiego. Książka Haltofa może być również rozpatrywana w kategoriach ważnego przyczynku w kwestii polskiej pamięci narodowej.
