Pós-tratamento de efluentes sanitários de reatores UASB utilizando wetlands construídos

Abstract

Reatores UASB são amplamente utilizados para o tratamento de esgotos sanitários devido ao seu baixo custo de operação e menor geração de lodo. Essa tecnologia, unicamente, pode não atingir os níveis de eficiência adequados para o lançamento de efluentes nos corpos hídricos. Atualmente, o processo ecotecnológico denominado wetlands construídos para tratamento de esgotos sanitários é uma tecnologia consolidada, ao passo que permite taxas de remoção de matéria orgânica acima de 80%, possui operação simples e baixo custo de manutenção. A pesquisa consistiu em dimensionar, construir e monitorar um sistema piloto de wetland construído de fluxo vertical com alimentação contínua, recebendo esgotos sanitários tratados de reatores UASB. Os resultados indicam altas taxas de remoção de matéria orgânica (84,9%) e acréscimo médio de nitratos da ordem de 3,54 mgNO3-N.L-1 no efluente, além de remoção de Fósforo Total e Nitrogênio Total de 37,2% e 27,3% respectivamente, porém baixa eficiência em relação ao parâmetros bacteriológicos (≈1 unidade log para E. coli).
