Motilitas dan Abnormalitas Sperma Post Thawing Pejantan Brian dan Osmond di Kabupaten Magelang

Abstract

Lambatnya pertumbuhan populasi sapi dan kerbau dalam negeri umumnya dikarenakan manajemen reproduksi ternak yang belum optimal sehingga perlu dilakukan evalusi dari pelaksanaan kegiatan manajemen reproduksi tersebut. Salah satu teknologi peningkatan populasi sapi adalah dengan Inseminasi Buatan (IB). Bahan yang digunakan untuk melaksanakan IB diperlukan straw atau semen beku yang berkualitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui tingkat motilitas dan abnormalitas sperma post thawing pejantan Brian dan Osmond. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama 3 (tiga) bulan, dimulai pada 28 September sampai dengan 28 November 2022. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan menggunakan sampel straw (semen beku) sebanyak 20 straw yang berasal dari 2 (dua) jenis pejantan yang berbeda yaitu 10 straw (semen beku) pejantan Brian, dan 10 straw (semen beku) pejantan Osmond yang diproduksi oleh BIB Ungaran. Variabel yang diamati antara lain motilitas, abnormalitas spermatozoa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa motilitas sperma post thawing pejantan Brian lebih tinggi dari Osmond, dan abnormalitas Osmond lebih tinggi dibandingkan pejantan Brian.
