The recent edition of the Directory On Popular Piety and Liturgy is decisive step in the task of adequately tackling the expressions of this complex world. Confraternities and Holy Week Processions in Spain are an exceptional expression of popular piety. This article tries to bring these forms of Holy Week devotion into dialogue in order to achieve the objective proposed by the Directory: to unite them and to give liturgy pride of place above any other form of Christian piety. Moreover, the article proposes concrete pastoral methods for explaining the ecclesial nature of the Holy Week processions and confraternities.
