Abstract

El presente trabajo se centra en el estudio del deterioro cognitivo leve (DCL), una condición neurocognitiva caracterizada por un declive en una o varias funciones mentales, que excede lo esperable en el envejecimiento normal pero no alcanza la gravedad de una demencia. A partir de una revisión sistemática de literatura científica reciente, se analizan las características clínicas del DCL, su posible evolución hacia enfermedades neurodegenerativas, y los factores que pueden favorecer su aparición o actuar como protectores. También se abordan los principales métodos y criterios empleados para su detección y diagnóstico, destacando el valor de una intervención temprana para frenar o revertir su progresión. La investigación subraya la necesidad de un enfoque multidimensional que combine pruebas cognitivas, evaluación funcional, nuevas tecnologías y la participación de profesionales sanitarios, con el objetivo de mejorar el pronóstico y la calidad de vida de las personas mayores en riesgo de deterioro cognitivo.
