OS JOVENS ADENTRANDO A EDUCAÇÃO DE JOVENS E ADULTOS

Abstract

A Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) é um espaço de relações e de diálogo entre diferentes gerações: jovens, adultos e idosos. Constata-se um crescimento do número de jovens e adolescentes nessa modalidade. Torna-se necessário compreender as especificidades desse público, em especial, a dos jovens com questões bastante peculiares, ligadas as formas de ser e estar no mundo, de expressarem suas juventudes, sua cultura, seus valores, desejos e sonhos. Essa discussão foi pautada em Bourdieu (1983), Sposito (2008), Dayrell (2005) entre outros. Com o objetivo de provocar a discussão sobre quem são os jovens que frequentam a EJA - considerando as condições de gênero, origem social, ocupação e cultura, foi empreendida essa pesquisa de cunho qualitativo, com apresentação de um estudo de caso. Foram ouvidos vinte e seis estudantes (entre 15 a 18 anos) e doze educadores da Escola Municipal de Ensino Fundamental “Aristóbulo Barbosa Leão” por meio de questionários e entrevistas. Os dados apontam, entre outros aspectos, que a maioria trabalha e muitos estão inseridos no mercado informal, exercendo atividades de baixa renumeração. Há predominância de estudantes do sexo feminino (60%) e a quase totalidade é de pardos e afrodescendentes (90%. Na visão dos educadores, há uma necessidade urgente de revisar as práticas metodológicas no Ensino Fundamental para a permanência desse público.
