Abstract

Penyakit mulut yang paling umum terjadi adalah Stomatitis Aftosa Rekuren atau sariawan. Sariawan adalah infeksi oportunistik yang disebabkan oleh pertumbuhan jamur permukaan Candida albicans yang berlebihan. Secara empiris tanaman kemangi digunakan untuk mengobati demam, sariawan dan panas dalam. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antifungi ekstrak tanaman kemangi (Ocimum sp.) terhadap Candida albicans kemudian spesies apakah dari tanaman daun kemangi Ocimum sp. yang dapat menghasilkan zona hambat yang paling kuat terhadap Candida albicans. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur dengan 23 jurnal penelitian mengenai tanaman Ocimum sp. sebagai antifungi terhadap Candida albicans dalam kurun waktu 10 tahun terakhir. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ekstrak tanaman kemangi (Ocimum sp.) memiliki aktivitas terhadap Candida albicans dengan zona hambat yang dihasilkan ada yang kuat, sedang dan lemah dan spesies Ocimum sanctum L. dengan pelarut alkohol 100% dengan metode difusi sumuran memiliki aktivitas yang paling kuat dengan zona hambat yang dihasilkan sebesar 17 mm.
