KONEKSI MATEMATIS DAN MINAT BELAJAR MATEMATIKA

Abstract

However, in reality, the students' mathematical connection skill is different due to certain factors, one of them is mathematics learning interest. This descriptive qualitative research aimed to describe mathematical connection skills on the subject matter of square viewed from mathematics learning interest on seventh-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Purwokerto. The samples were taken using a purposive sampling technique and resulted in two subjects from each category of high, medium, and low mathematics learning interest. The instruments used to collect the data were the questionnaire of mathematics learning interest, mathematical connection skill test, and interview. The data validation test was technique triangulation. The results showed that: students with high mathematics learning interest were able to connect mathematical concepts to different materials, to the discipline of other knowledge, and to daily life; students with medium mathematics learning interest were able to connect mathematical concepts to different materials and to daily life; and students with low mathematics learning interest were able to connect mathematical concepts to daily life. Keywords: Mathematical Connection, Mathematics Learning Interest, Square
