Abstract

Jalan raya memegang peranan yang sangat penting untuk memperlancar arus barang, jasa dan mempercepat komunikasi antar wilayah. Agar jalan raya dapat berfungsi sesuai dengan harapan, perlu diperhatikan faktor faktor yang mempengaruhi fungsi konstruksi tersebut, antara lain sifat tanah dasar dimana perkerasan jalan diletakkan di atasnya. Tanah di jalan Carenang Kabupaten Serang memiliki karakteristik tanah yang kurang baik. Hal ini menyebabkan permukaan jalan menjadi bergelombang, retak, dan amblas sehingga terjadi kerusakan pada permukaan jalan. Untuk alasan inilah peneliti ingin mengetahuisifat fisis dan sifat mekanis tanah di jalan Carenang Kabupaten Serang.Pada penelitian ini dilakukan beberapa pengujian yaitu pengujian sifat fisis dan sifat mekanis tanah. Pengujian sifat fisis tanah diantaranya analisa Saringan, berat jenis tanah, kadar air, batas cair dan batas plastis. Sedangkan pada pengujian sifat mekanis tanah diantaranya kuat geser tanah dan Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP).Hasil pengujian sifat fisis tanah menurut klasisfikasi sistem Unified menunjukkan bahwa sampel A tanah tersebut masuk pada golongan tanah pasir bergradasi baik –pasir berlanau dengan plastisitas sedang dan presentasi tertahan saringan no. 200 sebesar 92.3%, berat jenis =2.696, kadar air mula-mula = 17.744%, Batas Cair (LL)= 35.75%, Batas Plastis (PL)= 26.984%, indeks plastis (PI)= 8.766%,sedangkan pada sampel B dan sampel Ctanah tersebut masuk pada golongan tanah pasir berlempung dengan plastisitas sedang dan presentasi tertahan saringan no. 200 sebesar 81.6% & 85.7%, berat jenis = 2.688 &2.682, kadar air mula-mula = 23.803%& 22.203%, Batas Cair (LL)= 43.5%& 40.5%,Batas Plastis (PL)= 26.786 & 27,5%, indeks plastis (PI)= 16.711% & 13%. serta hasil pengujian sifat mekanis tanah pada pengujian kuat geser tanah pada sampel A, B dan C didapat nilai cA = 0,013 kg/cm² cB = 0,031 kg/cm² , cC= 0,008 kg/cm² dan OA= 26o, OB= 16o dan O= 15o, dan pengujian DCP pada sampel A,B dan C di dapat nilai CBR = 27.833%, 15% dan 7.167%.
