Abstract

ABSTRAKSalah satu jamur patogen yang dapat menyebabkan masalah kesehatan yaitu Candida albicans. Untuk menghambat pertumbuhan jamur dapat memanfaatkan bahan aktif dari tanaman yakni minyak atsiri daun cengkeh sebagai bahan antijamur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antijamur dan daya hambat minyak atsiri daun cengkeh terhadap jamur Candida albicans dan konsentrasi terendah minyak atsiri daun cengkeh yang mampu menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans. Ekstraksi minyak atsiri daun cengkeh dilakukan dengan metode destilasi uap, menghasilkan rendemen sebesar 1,525%. Uji aktivitas antijamur dilakukan menggunakan metode sumur difusi dengan media Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) menghasilkan diameter zona hambat sebesar 15 mm, menunjukkan minyak atsiri daun cengkeh memiliki daya hambat kuat terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans. Uji daya hambat minyak atsiri daun cengkeh terhadap jamur Candida albicans menunjukkan perbedaan nyata pada konsentrasi 0,5% sampai 10%, dan konsentrasi terendah minyak atsiri daun cengkeh dapat menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans adalah pada konsentrasi 0,5% (v/v) dengan diameter zona hambat sebesar 5,67 mm.Kata kunci : minyak atsiri, daun cengkeh, Candida albicans, antijamurABSTRACTOne of the pathogenic fungi that can cause various health problems is Candida albicans. To inhibit the growth of fungi by use the active compound of the plants which is clove essential oil that have antifungi activity. This research aims to determine the antifungal activity, inhibitory power of clove leaf essential oil and lowest concentration of clove leaf essential oil that can inhibit the growth of Candida albicans. The clove leaf essential oil extraction was done by steam distillation method, the rendement is 1,525%. The antifungal activity test was performed using diffusion well method with Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium yielding 15 mm inhibition zone diameter, showing clove leaf essential oil having strong inhibition effect on Candida albicans fungus growth. Clove oil essential oil inhibition test to Candida albicans fungi showed significant difference at 0.5% to 10% concentration, and the lowest concentration of clove leaf essential oil could inhibit the growth of Candida albicans fungus at 0.5% (v / v) concentration with inhibition’s zone of 5.67 mm.
