Abstract

O ensaio examina como os mercados campesinos promovem a alimentação saudável, solidária e sustentável como uma alternativa aos desafios da globalização e da crise alimentar. Esses mercados favorecem a qualidade nutricional dos alimentos e incentivam a justiça social e ambiental em toda a cadeia de suprimento. Ao reduzir as milhas alimentares e minimizar o número de intermediários, os mercados campesinos contribuem para a sustentabilidade ao oferecer alimentos frescos e saudáveis diretamente do produtor ao consumidor. Além disso, ajudam a preservar as economias locais e a identidade cultural, fortalecendo a soberania alimentar e melhorando o acesso a produtos de alta qualidade. Esses mercados desempenham um papel fundamental ao facilitar a venda direta de alimentos e promover o consumo de produtos locais. Esse modelo está alinhado à alimentação solidária, que prioriza o enfoque no direito à alimentação, na equidade e na justiça alimentar, além de sua sustentabilidade nos sistemas alimentares. Destaca-se também a importância da alimentação sustentável, que considera práticas agroalimentares respeitosas ao meio ambiente e à preservação de recursos para as futuras gerações. Finalmente, o ensaio conclui que o impacto positivo dos mercados campesinos vai além da nutrição individual, abrangendo aspectos sociais, econômicos e ambientais. Os mercados campesinos representam uma oportunidade inestimável para avançar em direção a uma alimentação mais saudável, solidária e sustentável; no entanto, seu sucesso depende do apoio institucional e do comprometimento das comunidades locais para superar as barreiras existentes.
