Abstract

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da técnica de curtimento sobre a resistência do couro de coelhos. Foram utilizadas 50 peles de coelhos (Oryctolagus cuniculus) machos da raça Nova Zelândia, abatidos com 70 dias. Utilizou-se um delineamento inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 5x2, sendo cinco técnicas de curtimento (T1, T2, T3 e T4 = 6% sais de cromo Chromossal B®; T5 = 6% tanino vegetal Weibull® e 6% de tanino sintético Syntac F®) e corpos– de– prova retirados na região dorsal em dois sentidos (S1= longitudinal e S2 = transversal) em relação ao eixo céfalo-caudal, com dez repetições. As análises físico-químicas realizadas foram pH, óxido de cromo e substâncias extraíveis em diclorometano. Os couros apresentaram espessura entre 0,49 e 0,87 mm. Não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos e o sentido do couro para tração (15,85 N/mm² a 20,44 N/mm²) e alongamento (61,16% a 63,57%) e força máxima (116,08 N a 145,25 N e 19,14 N a 24,40 N) aplicada nos testes. A utilização do tanino sintético proporcionou maior resistência (39,69 N/mm) ao rasgamento progressivo, entretanto diferiu significativamente apenas do tanino vegetal (25,18 N/mm). Para rasgamento progressivo o sentido longitudinal apresentou (P<0,05) maior resistência (34,13 N/mm) comparada ao transversal (29,70 N/mm). A concentração de óxido de cromo variou de 0,12 a 4,1% entre os tratamentos. Considerando todas as variáveis analisados neste experimento, a técnica mais indicada seria curtir e recurtir com sais de cromo (19,35 N/mm²; 61,21% e 32,06 N/mm).
