Infecção pelo Zika vírus e natimortos: um caso de hidropisia fetal, hidranencefalia e morte fetal

Abstract

A rápida propagação do vírus Zika nas Américas e o surto de microcefalia no Brasil aumentou a atenção para os possíveis efeitos deletérios que o vírus pode ter em fetos. Foi relatado um caso de gestante de 20 anos, de Salvador, Bahia, cujo feto tinha desenvolvido hidropisia fetal, uma condição em que há acúmulo anormal de líquido no feto, além de alterações graves do sistema nervoso, como microcefalia e hidranencefalia. Após a morte fetal, o RNA do Zika vírus foi detectado em tecidos do sistema nervoso central e líquido amniótico. Este relato de caso fornece evidências de que, além de microcefalia, pode haver uma ligação entre a infecção pelo vírus Zika e hidropisia fetal e morte fetal. Dada a recente propagação do vírus, a investigação sistemática de abortamentos espontâneos e natimortos pode ser necessários para avaliar se há risco relacionado à infecção por Zika vírus.
