Uji Simplisia Kulit Kayu Manis (Cinnamomum burmanii)

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Tanaman kayu manis (Cinnamomum burmanii) di indonesia telah dikenal di pasar internasional. Sebagian besar kebutuhan kulit kayu manis di dunia di pasok dari indonesia. Sumatera Barat, Jambi, dan Sumatera Utara sebagai salah satu penghasil kulit kayu manis terbesar di Indonesia. Tanaman kayu manis di daerah ini adalah jenis Cinnamomum burmanii yang dalam dunia perdangangan dikenal dengan casiera vera. Tanaman kayu manis banyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat adalah kulit batangnya. Tujuan: Penelitian kulit kayu manis dilakukan untuk melihat dan mengkaji karakteristik parameter spesifik, non-spesifik dan skrining fitokimia spesifik pada komposisi senyawa simplisia kayu manis. Metode: Simplisia kulit kayu manis diuji terhadap karakteristik parameter spesifik dan non-spesifik dan skrining fitokimia spesifik yang terdiri dari alkaloid, tanin, dan fenolik. Hasil: Analisis skrining fitokimia spesifik dibuktikan bahwa kulit kayu manis mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder berupa alkaloid, tanin, dan fenolik. Analisis karakteristik spesifik dan non-spesifik meliputi susut pengeringan (11%), kadar air (17.64%), kadar abu total (13.4%), kadar sari larut air (5.5%), dan kadar sari larut etanol (5.1%). Kesimpulan: Hasil analisis skrining fitokimia telah memenuhi standar kualifikasi yang sah, sedangkan uji karakteristik parameter non-spesifik mendapat hasil negatif pada analisis pengukuran kadar air, kadar abu total, dan kadar sari larut etanol. Sehingga, hasil belum bisa dikatakan maksimal dan perlu adanya uji pengulangan.
