Abstract

Embora o Brasil tenha experimentado uma perda populacional para o resto do mundo nas últimas décadas do século passado, o País continua recebendo um contingente significativo de população via imigração internacional. Isso ocorre ao mesmo tempo que a estrutura do mercado de trabalho vem se alterando tanto por aspectos de natureza demográfica quanto por modificações na composição educacional e inserção ocupacional dos trabalhadores. O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar a composição dos fluxos migratórios internacionais que o Brasil recebe, em termos de inserção dos imigrantes no mercado de trabalho. Isso é feito a partir de uma reflexão sobre o processo de transição demográfica e das transformações na estrutura do mercado de trabalho. As análises mostram que o País vem recebendo tanto imigrantes que se inserem em ocupações pouco qualificadas como indivíduos que ocupam posições privilegiadas no mercado de trabalho, configurando uma dualidade da migração internacional para o Brasil.
