Abstract

O estudo investiga os movimentos de massa em taludes da região de Belo Horizonte, representativos de áreas de grande instabilidade. Na região ocorrem variados tipos de movimentos de massa particulares de três grupos de materiais geológicos distintos. No primeiro grupo, representado por filitos e xistos, o desencadeamento dos processos dependem da disposição, situação de confinamento e intensidade das descontinuidades e do grau de alteração dos maçiços rochosos. Mecanismos como alívio de tensão e a ação conjunta da água no interior dos maciços contribuem para o aumento da predisposição dos taludes à rupturas. No segundo grupo, representado pelos solos residuais de gnaisses, as rupturas ocorrem no interior de feições erosivas já instaladas condicionadas por estruturas reliquiares da rocha mãe. No terceiro grupo, representado por tálus, as rupturas mais comuns ocorrem estimuladas por cortes na base dos taludes. Os movimentos gravitacionais são do tipo fluxo de detritos, escorregamentos planares rasos, escorregamentos circulares sucessivos e rastejamentos. A maioria dos movimentos de massa observados ocorrem de modo progressivo, dependendo das alterações na geometria dos taludes e do grau de intemperismo.
