Abstract

Este artigo apresenta os resultados de pesquisa realizada com o objetivo de identificar e quantificar a influência do tamanho de parcelas nos dados de escoamento superficial difuso da água de chuva e nos de perda do solo em condições naturais de cobertura vegetal. Foram instaladas parcelas de 100 m2 e 10 m2, uma ao lado da outra, na alta, na meia e na baixa vertente em uma encosta na região de Gouveia, MG. A área de estudo é caracterizada pela ocorrência de clima tropical, com duas estações bem definidas, uma seca e outra úmida, e relevo formado por vertentes convexas e policonvexas, desenvolvidas sobre rochas do embasamento cristalino. Cada parcela foi delimitada com placas de alumínio de 0,4 mm de espessura e 33,3 cm de largura, dos quais 10 cm foram enterrados no solo para evitar o acréscimo de água e material provenientes do escoamento superficial a montante e lateral. Os dados indicam que a variação na dimensão das parcelas influencia nos resultados finais, e o fator cobertura vegetal foi o que mais contribuiu para o aumento das variações encontradas, uma vez que as parcelas de 10 m2 sempre apresentaram, no mínimo, 10% a mais de cobertura vegetal durante todo o ano do que as parcelas de 100 m2.
