Abstract

Objetivo: Conocer la prevalencia de la reactividad a la prueba de la tuberculina en estudiantes de la Facultad de Enfermería de la Universidad Nacional “San Luis Gonzaga” de Ica en 2013. Material y método: investigación aplicada, diseño observacional, descriptivo, transversal, en una muestra de 150 alumnos (as), seleccionados (as) mediante muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia, aplicándose a cada uno tuberculina-PPD (INS), mediante la técnica de Mantoux y una encuesta estructurada de 7 secciones y 29 preguntas (2 abiertas y 27 cerradas) de opción dicotómica y múltiple. Resultados: la tasa de pruebas positivas (≥ 10mm) al PPD fue de 3,33%, las reactividades de 0 mm fueron de 84,67 %, y de 1 a 9 mm de 12,00%; los factores de riesgo para infección latente por Mycobacterium tuberculosis con asociación estadística, fueron, edad 20 a 29 años (p:0,025), material de vivienda inadecuado (p: 0.000), ventilación de la vivienda inadecuada (p: 0,000), hacinamiento (p: 0,000), Ingreso familiar mensual menor a S/. 1 000.00 nuevos soles (p: 0,05), contacto con casos de tuberculosis en el centro laboral (p: 0,028), antecedentes de diabetes mellitus (p: 0,000) y uso de corticoides (p: 0,038). Conclusiones: La prevalencia de reactividad positiva a la tuberculina – PPD en el estudio fue baja y la prevalencia de reactividad negativa fue elevada, concluyéndose que en este último grupo existe un mayor riesgo de infección por Mycobacterium tuberculosis y de desarrollar enfermedad tuberculosa durante sus actividades asistenciales académicas y profesionales.
