Abstract

O trecho do livro de Gênesis, capítulo 6, dos versículos de 1 a 5, introduz a figura dos “nephilins”, em algumas traduções colocados como “gigantes”, figuras que passaram ao imaginário popular e ao caráter de mitos bíblicos. Este artigo busca contrastar as diferentes traduções e interpretações dadas ao referido texto, de modo a demonstrar como, em diferentes interpretações, o conceito de gigantes sob viés mítico, no qual a concepção de “filhos de Deus” como “anjos” que teriam coabitado com as mulheres, dando origem aos nephilim, pode ser também entendido, por outro lado, como “humanos que fazem a vontade de Deus”, e as “filhas dos homens”, como as mulheres que descendiam de humanos que não aceitavam a vontade de Javé.
