Abstract

Esta investigación tiene como objeto estudiar el español hablado en zonas de contacto con la lengua maya tzutujil en Guatemala a partir de un trabajo de campo con informantes bilingües. La situación de intenso bilingüismo que se da desde hace años entre estas lenguas ha motivado cambios en el español que se han consolidado como norma estable en dichas regiones. A través del análisis del uso de los pronombres átonos de tercera persona, mostraremos que la influencia que ejerce el tzutujil sobre el español se manifiesta en una simplificación del sistema pronominal de objeto directo del castellano. El español hablado en estas áreas muestra la tendencia a emplear una única forma pronominal invariable sin distinción de género y número, que en este caso sería lo (“Y si la señorita al día siguiente, digamos hoy en la tarde dejaron esa moneda en su güipil, y si lo regresan ahorita mismo piensan ‘ah, no, eso no nos gusta, a nosotros no’”…). Plantearemos la hipótesis del contacto lingüístico como causante de los cambios descritos.
