El pamplonica y jesuita expulso Ignacio Lizasoáin fue misionero y el último provincial de México, antes de la supresión de la Compañía en 1773. Lizasoáin impulsó la relevante literatura de los jesuitas de la provincia de México producida en Italia en el exilio. Supo mantener unidos a escitores relevantes como Clavijero o Landívar y a otros autores mexicanos. Lizasoáin fue su guía en el desierto del destierro italiano, basado en su empatía personal y en la moderación de su liderazgo.
