SİKKELER ÜZERİNDE ANAZARBOS KAYALIĞI VE AKROPOLİSİ

Abstract

Antik Çağ’da Kilikia Bölgesi’nin pedias (=düz, ovalık) kısmında, günümüzde ise Çukurova’da, Adana İli’nin Kozan İlçesi’nin Dilekkaya Mahallesi sınırları içerisinde yer alan Anazarbos kenti, ismini aldığı kayalığın batı kısmındaki düz alanda kurulmuştur. Kentin M.Ö. 1.yy. ile M.S. 254 yılları arasında basmış olduğu sikkelerden Roma İmparatorluğu Dönemi’ne ait olanlarının bir kısmında, kayalık ve akropolis tasvirleri yer almaktadır. İlk kez İmparator Claudius (M.S. 41 - 54) Dönemi’ne ait sikkeler üzerinde görülmeye başlayan bu tasvirler, İmparator Traianus (M.S. 98 - 117) ve İmparator Elagabalus (M.S. 218 - 222) dönemlerinde de varlığını sürdürür. Bu tasvirler, Anazarbos kayalığı ve akropolisinin M.S. 1-3. yy’daki görünümüne ışık tutan yegâne bilimsel kaynaktırlar. Bu çalışmada, Roma İmparatorluğu Dönemi’nde Anazarbos’ta basılan kayalık ve akropolis tasvirli sikkeler incelenmiştir. Bu şekilde Anazarbos kayalığının Roma İmparatorluğu Dönemi’ndeki durumu ve kent için anlamının ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır.
