Abstract

Introduccion: Un polipo placentario se describe como la retencion de restos placentarios despues de un procedimiento obstetrico. El diagnostico suele basarse en primera linea con un ultrasonido. La mejor opcion terapeutica es la evacuacion de restos con resectoscopio bajo vision directa. Objetivo: Apoyar a la literatura medica, describir la evolucion clinica, los metodos diagnosticos y la terapeutica. Caso clinico: Mujer G1 P1 de 34 anos, con sangrado transvaginal intermitente, 26 dias posteriores a un parto, se detecto una tumoracion exofitica con superficie necrotica y de sangrado facil en canal cervical. La fraccion ?-hCG se encontro en 10.5 ?IU. El ultrasonido transvaginal revelo zona ecogenica redondeada en Doppler con aumento de vascularidad. La persistencia del sangrado transvaginal obligo a realizar histerectomia. El estudio histopatologico reporto una lesion polipoide que ocupaba el orificio cervical, en la microscopia se observaron vellosidades fantasma correspondientes a polipo placentario. Conclusiones: El polipo placentario es una entidad rara, que puede causar una hemorragia tardia. Se requiere de un interrogatorio y exploracion fisica minuciosos. Debe realizarse examen ultrasonografico y estudio histopatologico para llegar al diagnostico. El tratamiento se enfoca al manejo con histeroscopia.
