Este ensayo busca analizar las reformas educativas en curso en los últimos veinte años, y destaca las experiencias latinas, especialmente la brasileña. Parte de la crítica a la diferenciación conceptual entre innovación escolar y reforma educacional, y, seguidamente, analiza las diferentes orientaciones educacionales entre culturas anglosajonas y culturas latinas. Finaliza planteando y analizando la pauta de las reformas educacionales brasileñas, teniendo como referencia los debates llevados a cabo en el Foro Nacional de Reformas Educacionales, que tuvieron lugar en Belo Horizonte, Brasil, en junio de 2002.
