
The problem, intercultural competence of high school students Chivay (Arequipa, Peru) took place in the province of Caylloma, considering objectives, determine the level of development of language and intercultural skills (intercultural competence) of students and inquire about forms of resistance to acculturation. The sample consisted of 50 students from districts and towns far and near to the province of Chivay To obtain or data collection questionnaire intercultural skills (quantitative method) and for analysis of resistance to acculturation, the qualitative method, with sub matrix spaces and social spaces was usedThe results show that high school students have Chivay favorable language and intercultural skills for intercultural interaction well with the local people, along with foreign and domestic tourists. Likewise, resistance to acculturation occurs in the social space sub bilingual Quechua and Castilian, the positive assessment of the native language and the preservation of cultural patterns in the area.
