Abstract

La producción de auxinas in vitro se evaluó en tres cepas (CBG-180, CBG-181, CBG-497) de la rizobacteria promotora del crecimiento vegetal Azospirillum brasilense nativas del norte de Tamaulipas, México y su efecto en la producción de biomasa, grano y forraje de maíz (Zea mays L.). La cepa CBG-497 (de la localidad Río Bravo) produjo mayor cantidad de auxinas in vitro que las cepas CBG-180 y CBG-181 (ambas de la localidad Díaz Ordaz). En invernadero, la cepa CBG-497 incrementó significativamente la producción de biomasa (20 a 90 %) en tres híbridos de maíz (‘Garst-8222’, ‘Dekalb-2003’, ‘Asgrow-Tigre’) en comparación con el testigo no inoculado. En campo, el rendimiento de grano y de forraje del maíz no mostraron diferencia significativa entre la aplicación de biofertilizantes basados en cepas nativas de A. brasilense y la fertilización química, pero la aplicación de biofertilizantes incrementó la rentabilidad del maíz (36 % en promedio) al reducir los costos de fertilización.
