PROSPECTIVA DE EXTRACTOS VEGETALES PARA CONTROLAR ENFERMEDADES POSTCOSECHA HORTOFRUTÍCOLAS

Abstract

Las plantas producen compuestos con propiedades antimicrobianas que pueden ser empleadas para controlar diferentes enfermedades en productos hortofrutícolas. La obtención de los extractos vegetales y el estudio de sus compuestos activos propician su empleo contra diferentes fitopatógenos. En condiciones in vitro los extractos inhiben el crecimiento del patógeno, así como la esporulación y germinación de esporas, de modo que ayudan a controlar las enfermedades de frutos y hortalizas. In vivo, el efecto fungicida de los extractos vegetales varía en función de la metodología de preparación (solvente, seco, fresco, tiempo de almacenamiento, etc.), especie botánica, órgano de la planta (raíces, hojas, semillas, etc.), fecha de cosecha, etc. Sin embargo, la combinación de los extractos vegetales con algún otro compuesto natural puede potenciar su actividad fungicida. A la fecha son escasos los estudios básicos que incluyen el efecto de extractos vegetales en aspectos moleculares, bioquímicos y morfológicos del hospedero y del patógeno.
