RENDIMIENTO DE FORRAJE DE VARIEDADES DE ALFALFA EN DOS CALENDARIOS DE CORTE

Abstract

Se determinó el rendimiento anual y estacional de cuatro variedades de alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) cosechadas en dos calendarios de corte en los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca, México. En un diseño completamente al azar con cuatro repeticiones se evaluaron ocho tratamientos arreglados en parcelas divididas; la parcela grande comprendió a las variedades (‘Valenciana’, ‘Moapa’, ‘Oaxaca’ y ‘Tlacolula’), y la subparcela a los calendarios de corte (severo con cortes cada 28 d en primavera y verano, y cada 42 d en otoño e invierno; y ligero con cortes cada 35 y 49 d, respectivamente); todos los cortes fueron a 4 cm de altura. Las parcelas experimentales (25 m2) se sembraron con 3 g de semilla pura viable m-2, y se regó cada 15 d. La interacción variedad x calendario de corte influyó (P ≤ 0.05) en el rendimiento de forraje y en la relación hoja:tallo. En otoño con los dos calendarios de corte, y en verano e invierno solamente con el calendario severo de corte, las variedades ‘Oaxaca’ y ‘Tlacolula’ rindieron más forraje que ‘Moapa’ y ‘Valenciana’. Las mejores relaciones hoja:tallo a través del año se registraron en ‘Moapa’ con el calendario severo de corte. El rendimiento anual de forraje (2000 g MS m-2/año) fue similar entre variedades y calendarios de corte, ya que las diferencias estacionales se compensaron entre sí.
