CAPACIDAD DE SEIS ESPECIES VEGETALES PARA ACUMULAR PLOMO EN SUELOS CONTAMINADOS

Abstract

El uso de especies vegetales como agentes descontaminantes de suelos contaminados por metales pesados representa una alternativa tecnológica económica y limpia que merece ser estudiada. En el presente trabajo se evaluaron las especies: Cenchrus ciliaris, Helianthus annus, Ricinus communis, Nicotiana tabacum, Sorghum sudanense y Brassica campestris, que fueron cultivadas en macetas con un suelo de textura franco arenosa que se contaminó artificialmente con 0, 500 y 1000 mg de Pb kg-1 de suelo con el objetivo de evaluar su capacidad de acumular plomo. Las especies difirieron en sus capacidad de acumular plomo. En el tratamiento 500 mg de Pb kg-1 de suelo el orden de estas capacidades (P ≤ 0.05) fueron: N. tabacum (3.27 y 3.08 mg de Pb kg-1 en la materia seca total y en la parte aérea respectivamente) > R. communis > C. ciliaris > S. sudanense > B. campestris > H. annus. Mientras que en el tratamiento 1000 mg de Pb kg-1 de suelo el orden (P ≤ 0.05) fue: R. communis (6.79 y 3.94 mg de Pb kg-1 en la materia seca total y parte aérea respectivamente) > S. sudanense > C. ciliaris > H. annus > N. tabacum = B. campestris. Con base en la literatura especializada, no se identificó a ninguna de las seis especies evaluadas como “hiperacumuladora de plomo”.
