RESPUESTA DE LA SANDÍA AL ACOLCHADO PLÁSTICO, FERTILIZACIÓN, SIEMBRA DIRECTA Y TRASPLANTE

Abstract

En este estudio se determinó la producción, eficiencia en el uso del agua y la precocidad a cosecha del cultivo de sandía (Citrullus lanatus T.) regado con cintilla a 60 % de la evaporación de un tanque estándar tipo A, en tres tipos de establecimiento (siembra directa, trasplante a dos hojas verdaderas y trasplante a inicio de guías), con y sin acolchado de plástico negro, y dos niveles de fertilización de N y P2O5 (160N-80P y 240N-120P). El diseño experimental fue completamente al azar con un arreglo de tratamientos factorial 3x2x2 y las comparaciones de medias se hicieron mediante la prueba Tukey (α=0.05). La mayor producción de fruto (68.6 t ha-1) se logró con el establecimiento del cultivo por trasplante a dos hojas verdaderas combinado con acolchado plástico y fertilizado con 160N-80P, que también fue el tratamiento más eficiente en el uso del agua al alcanzar una productividad de 14.3 kg de fruta por m3 de agua. El rendimiento alcanzado por el mejor tratamiento representó un incremento de casi 150 % respecto al rendimiento medio regional. El incremento de la temperatura del suelo debido al uso del acolchado plástico favoreció la producción y adelantó la cosecha de la sandía en una semana.
