HERENCIA DE LA RESISTENCIA A ROYA DE LA HOJA EN VARIEDADES DE TRIGO PARA TEMPORAL

Abstract

Juchi F2000, Náhuatl F2000 y Tlaxcala F2000 son variedades de trigo harinero recientemente liberadas para siembras de temporal o secano en México. La roya de la hoja del trigo causada por Puccinia triticina E. afecta la producción de este cereal en forma continua, por lo que; el mejoramiento genético para resistencia a esta enfermedad ha sido el método más eficiente para su control. Con el fin de determinar la genética de la resistencia a la roya de la hoja en Juchi F2000, Náhuatl F2000 y Tlaxcala F2000, éstas se cruzaron con la variedad susceptible Avocet-YrA (AOC-YrA). Ciento cuarenta y ocho familias F3 por cruza y sus progenitores fueron evaluadas en el Valle del Yaqui, Sonora, por su respuesta a la roya de la hoja, durante el ciclo de cultivo otoño-invierno 2001-2002. Se creó una epifitia artificial mediante la inoculación con urediniosporas de roya de la hoja de la raza MCJ/SP. Las familias se clasificaron en resistentes, susceptibles y segregantes. Con base en el número de familias homocigóticas resistentes y susceptibles, se determinó que Juchi F2000 y Tlaxcala F2000 poseen cuatro genes de efecto aditivo que condicionan el desarrollo lento de la roya. También se determinó que Náhuatl F2000 posee tres genes de efecto aditivo, que incluye el posible efecto del gene Lr16. Un gene en común en las tres variedades fue Lr34, que confiere resistencia de desarrollo lento de la roya de la hoja. El número de genes se discute de acuerdo con el tamaño de la población y a las frecuencias esperadas.
