DISTRIBUCIONES ESPACIALES DE MALEZAS Y RENDIMIENTO DE MAÍZ EN LABRANZA REDUCIDA Y CONVENCIONAL

Abstract

La estructura espacial de la distribución de malezas y del rendimiento de maíz (Zea mays L.) es poco conocida, porque el análisis de estas variables con el uso de métodos estadísticos convencionales implica suponer que las poblaciones de malezas y rendimiento de maíz se distribuyen homogéneamente en los campos de cultivo. En esta investigación se usaron técnicas geoestadísticas para describir y elaborar mapas de la distribución de malezas y rendimiento de grano del maíz en 2001, en respuesta a la supresión del barbecho y surcado, en comparación a la labranza convencional. Se encontró que el rendimiento de grano de maíz y la población total de malezas se distribuyeron en agregados. El modelo exponencial proporcionó el mejor ajuste a los datos de población de malezas después de las escardas y del rendimiento de grano. Mediante estimaciones hechas con el método de kriging se elaboraron mapas bidimensionales, en los cuales el terreno, mostró dos áreas de alta densidad de malezas en su extremo sur; así como dos áreas con rendimientos intermedios de grano con pequeñas zonas de rendimientos altos y bajos de maíz. Los patrones espaciales del rendimiento de grano y malezas sugieren la nula influencia de éstas sobre el rendimiento. El monitoreo a largo plazo de las poblaciones de maleza y rendimiento de maíz será necesario para caracterizar sus patrones espaciales, con lo cual se aumentaría la eficiencia del manejo del cultivo al incluir el efecto del tipo de labranza y el uso de herbicidas, fertilizantes y riego.
