SELECCIÓN PARA RENDIMIENTO Y CALIDAD DE FRUTO DE CRUZAS PLANTA x PLANTA ENTRE VARIEDADES DE TOMATE DE CÁSCARA

Abstract

En este trabajo se hizo selección para rendimiento y calidad de fruto en 220 cruzas planta x planta entre las variedades CHF1- Chapingo y Verde Puebla de tomate de cáscara (Physalis ixocarpa Brot.). Las 220 cruzas y las dos variedades se evaluaron en el año 2001 en Tecamac y Chapingo, México, en un diseño de bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones. Los caracteres medidos fueron: Rendimiento de fruto por planta (kg) en los cortes 1, 2 y 3 y en el total de cortes (RTF); peso individual (g), firmeza (kg cm-2), sólidos solubles totales (grados Brix) y diámetros polar (mm) y ecuatorial (mm) del fruto (PEF, FIF, SST, DPF y DEF, respectivamente), medidos en el corte 1. El rendimiento de fruto promedio de los progenitores se incrementó de 0.39 a 0.73 kg/planta al avanzar del corte 1 al 3, y el de las cruzas también aumentó de 0.40 a 1.01. El rendimiento total de CHF1-Chapingo y Verde Puebla fue 2.02 y 1.34 kg/planta, respectivamente, y el de las cruzas varió de 1.20 a 2.84, con media de 2.04 kg/planta (42.50 t ha-1). La heterosis promedio en las cruzas se incrementó del corte 1 al 3 de 0.01 a 0.28 kg/planta y la heterobeltiosis en la mejor cruza de 0.48 a 0.76 kg/planta. En rendimiento total la heterosis promedio fue de 0.36 kg/planta (21.4 %) y la heterobeltiosis en la mejor cruza (C127) fue 0.82 kg/planta (40.6 %), la cual rindió 2.84 kg/planta. En los cinco caracteres de calidad de fruto (PEF, FIF, SST, DPF y DEF) la heterosis promedio fue negativa, pero la heterobeltiosis de la mejor cruza varió de 0.7 a 19.2%.
