HABILIDAD COMPETITIVA DEL FRIJOL CONTRA MALEZAS

Abstract

Se realizó un experimento de junio a noviembre de 1997 en Chapingo, Edo. de México; para evaluar la habilidad competitiva de doce genotipos de frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) contra malezas y determinar las variables asociadas con habilidad en la planta de frijol. Los genotipos empleados fueron Negro Huasteco, Línea élite 8, Línea élite 4, Pedigrí 341, Bayomex, Pedigrí 540, Oaxaca 268, Pinto Hidalgo, Flor de Mayo RMC, Bayo Madero, Negro 150 Lir. 31 y Flor de Junio. Cada uno de los genotipos creció con competencia de malezas y libre de competencia, arreglando los tratamientos de una serie de los experimentos con el diseño de bloques al zar con tres repeticiones. La competencia ejercida por las malezas en el frijol causó una disminución en todos los componentes del rendimiento y en el rendimiento de grano. El grado de competencia dependió del genotipo del cultivo y su hábito de crecimiento inicial rápido, abundancia de follaje y amplia cobertura foliar fueron los factores que otorgaron ventaja al frijol para competir contra las malezas. Las variedades de hábito de crecimiento indeterminado Flor de Junio y Pinto Hidalgo permitieron el menor crecimiento de malezas, así como buen rendimiento en condiciones de competencia con malezas.
